Genesis Windshield Replacement and ADAS Calibration: What Ownership Looks Like

The sensor must be recalibrated so that what it sees matches what the car knows about itself — the exact height above the road, the exact angle relative to the steering axis, the exact centerline of the vehicle.

There are two kinds of calibration, and most Genesis vehicles require both after a windshield replacement:

• Static calibration. The car is parked on a level floor in a controlled space. Targets are placed at precisely measured distances and heights. The camera studies them and learns its new reference points.
• Dynamic calibration. A technician drives the vehicle on well-marked roads at specified speeds so the system can confirm its work against real lane lines and real traffic.

Both steps demand factory-level scan tools, current software, and — for the static portion — a bay large enough and flat enough to hold the targets at the right geometry. This is not a driveway job.

The car will drive. That is the quiet danger. Lane Following Assist may tug slightly toward the shoulder. Smart Cruise may brake later than it should, or earlier. Forward Collision warnings may fire on shadows. None of it announces itself. You notice, instead, that the car feels a half-degree off — and you may not connect that feeling to the glass that was replaced six weeks ago.

Windshield replacement pricing on a Genesis varies with the specific vehicle, the specific glass, and the specific features embedded in it. Acoustic laminated glass costs more than standard.
