There is a moment, in a narrow downtown Norman parking space or a tight garage stall off Main, when the car has to move but the driver does not. Remote Smart Parking Assist was designed for that moment. It is a small feature, in the grand scheme of the car, and it rewards a second look.
We spend time with it during deliveries because it is one of those details that reads better in person than on paper. Here is what a demonstration looks like, and what we think it says about the way Genesis approaches design.
What Remote Smart Parking Assist actually does
The system allows the driver to move the vehicle forward or backward in a straight line from outside the car, using the smart key. You stand near the vehicle, press and hold a button on the fob, and the car creeps into or out of a space on its own — steering held straight, brakes managed, throttle metered.
It is not autonomous parking in the science-fiction sense. It is a specific solution to a specific, common problem: the parking space that is technically wide enough for the car but not wide enough for the car and an open door. A tight garage. A downtown spot between two SUVs. A guest at a dinner in Nichols Hills who parked closer than they meant to.
The car pulls out. You get in. The evening continues.
What the demonstration looks like at Genesis of Norman
When a client takes delivery of a GV80, a G90, or one of the electrified models like the Electrified GV70, we walk through the feature on our own lot before anyone drives home. The demonstration is deliberately unhurried.
Step one: pairing the key
The smart key is already paired at delivery. We confirm the fob is charged and that the driver knows which buttons control forward and reverse movement. There are two, and their placement is intuitive after the first try.
Step two: a real space, not a cone drill
We prefer to run the demonstration in a working parking scenario rather than an empty lot. A stall between two other vehicles on our service drive. A pull-through where the driver would ordinarily need to shuffle the car forward six feet to clear the door. The point is to show what the system does in the situation that actually calls for it.
Step three: the driver stands outside
Door closed. Transmission in the correct gear. Press and hold. The car moves at a walking pace, sensors scanning, and stops immediately when the button is released or when it detects an obstacle. Release, and it stops. That is the whole interaction.
Most drivers try it twice. The second time, they smile.
Where the feature earns its keep
Remote Smart Parking Assist is not a party trick. It solves a handful of situations that Norman and Oklahoma City drivers encounter more often than they might expect.
- The home garage that shrank. Bikes, a second refrigerator, holiday storage — garages accumulate. The feature lets you pull the car in fully and exit without brushing the wall.
- Downtown parking in OKC. Automotive Alley, Midtown, and parts of Bricktown were laid out before crossover SUVs existed. A tight parallel space is friendlier when the driver's door does not have to open in it.
- Valet returns. Occasionally a car comes back parked closer to a neighbor than you would have chosen. The system lets you move it a few feet without asking anyone to reshuffle.
- Loading a trunk. Pull the car forward from behind the tailgate rather than climbing in, starting it, moving it, and climbing back out.
None of these are dramatic. That is the point. The feature is designed for ordinary friction, and it removes it.
Which Genesis models include it
Availability varies by trim and model year, and we would rather confirm the specific configuration on the specific car than generalize. Broadly, the feature appears on the flagship sedans and SUVs and on the electrified variants, where the smooth low-speed torque of the electric drivetrain makes the motion feel especially composed.

Not louder, but more considered. The same instinct that shaped the Two Lines running the length of a GV80 is at work when engineers decide which convenience features to include and how they should behave.
You can read the demonstration as a small thing, and it is. But it is also representative. The car is composed of a thousand of these decisions, and once you notice one, the rest become easier to see. Considered, not loud.
